The Beach Houses
Each house has a sea view and is a stone's throw from the beach. The houses are unique, decorated with original artwork and furniture harking back to the Swahili coast's days of trade winds and spice routes and each one is discretely nestled amongst three acres of beautiful tropical gardens giving you both privacy and company. The houses are fully equipped down to beach towels. There are overhead and standing fans and a sea breeze to cool you. Some of the houses have air conditioning as well. Large mosquito nets cover all the beds.
Overlooking an unspoilt, dazzling, powder white beach and the aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean, the family-run, characterful beach houses at Four Twenty South are the perfect home from home for a Kenyan adventure. Here, Ibis birds forage, colobus monkeys loll in the trees and you can hear the sound of bush-babies and cicadas floating in the breeze of the star-studded nights.
You will be looked after by a team of your own dedicated staff and hosted by John and Hilary Lockhart-Mure who live on the property (the latter whose family has owned and operated Four Twenty South since 1966). Travel arrangements, pre-stocking the house with provisions and anything else you might need can be arranged.
The area has plenty of restaurants, beach bars and shops a short tuk tuk ride away and an array of activities from water sports to safari to keep you as busy as you'd like during your stay. Or you might prefer to do nothing but relax and watch the world go by in harmony with the environment, the seasons and the tides in your haven from the modern world. Birdsong in the morning, cicadas at night and the comforting concert of waves on the shore. The latitude Four Twenty South has its own unique magic.

The houses have two, three and five bedrooms.
All our accommodation is self contained and staffed with housekeeper, full kitchen and chef.
Housekeeping is a daily service. Please note room servicing will be undertaken when guests are not present in the room.
There is a laundry with washing machines. The housekeeper will take dirty clothes from the laundry baskets in the bathrooms and return them clean to the rooms.
There is complimentary Wi-Fi.
All the beds are covered with large square nets. The rooms are sprayed with insect repellent every day.
There are overhead and stand fans, a breeze from the ocean and air conditioning in some of the bedrooms.
There is a backup generator.
Massage or personal training can be arranged at the property. Sports or language tuition is also available.
Chefs can do the shopping for guests if preferred.
We are pleased to say we have never had any security issues but as a caution, the grounds have day and night guards and CCTV .
